Discover Yerevan, the historic capital of Armenia, and one of the oldest cities in the world. Begin your city tour at Republic Square, the heart of the city, surrounded by grand architecture and dancing fountains. Admire the impressive Cascade Complex and climb to the top for panoramic views over Yerevan and Mount Ararat, before browsing local crafts, jewelry, and artworks at the Vernissage Market. Yerevan is also home to many fascinating museums and cultural landmarks, such as the History Museum of Armenia and the Matenadaran, which you can choose to visit in your free time.

Today you’ll step back in time at Garni Temple, Armenia’s only surviving pagan temple, where Greco-Roman architecture meets ancient Armenian heritage. Explore the nearby royal ruins before continuing to Geghard Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site carved partly into the cliffs. Take part in a traditional lavash-making workshop and immerse yourself in Armenian culinary tradition as you learn to prepare the country’s iconic flatbread. Finally, enjoy a short scenic hike to the Symphony of Stones, a striking natural landmark of basalt columns rising like organ pipes.

Begin your day at Khor Virap Monastery, a site of great historical significance with stunning views of Mount Ararat, Armenia’s iconic national symbol. Continue to Noravank Monastery, a striking 13th-century complex set dramatically among the red cliffs of the Arpa River Gorge. End the day at a beautiful winery, where you’ll enjoy Armenian wine tasting and discover the region’s ancient winemaking traditions, preserved in indigenous grape varieties like Areni Noir and Voskehat.

Today you’ll venture out to Lake Sevan, Armenia’s largest freshwater lake and one of the highest-altitude lakes in the world. Next travel north to Dilijan, often called the “Switzerland of Armenia”, a charming town in the lush forests of the Dilijan National Park, perfect for a scenic stroll. Explore the hidden Haghartsin Monastery, a 12th-century complex offering a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere. Then visit Goshavank Monastery, famed for its stunning medieval architecture and intricate khachkars (Armenian cross-stones). Journey back to Yerevan for your final evening in the city.

You’ll stay in a 3-star or 4-star hotel in Yerevan. Accommodation is based on two people sharing per room, but a single supplement is available for solo travellers who want a private room (if arranged in advance).
To enter Armenia, your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay, and it is advised that you have an ‘expiry date’ at least 3 months after the date you arrive. UK citizens can visit Armenia without a visa for up to 180 days, but it is your responsibility to check the official government website for the most up-to-date information. Travelling around the country is part of the adventure and some days involve driving long distances, but we have included interesting stops along the way. The amount of driving time ranges from approximately 2-5 hours total per day, but travel times can vary depending on the conditions.
A moderate level of fitness is recommended due to long days of exploring. Please be aware that the altitude in Armenia may be higher than you are used to and may take time for your body to adjust. The average altitude on this trip is approximately 800–1500 m above sea level and should not exceed 2000m.
